Women's Trad Festival

Women's Trad Festival is a trad climbing festival in the Peak District, bridging the gap between indoor and outdoor climbing. We support, connect and inspire climbers of all abilities, ages and genders.

Throughout the weekend, experienced trad climbers, ‘leaders’, are carefully paired with new climbers, ‘learners’. Leaders teach and support learners in whatever area they need it most, gear-placement, rope-work, anchors, leading or confidence building. Highly qualified professional MIA instructors, 'mentors', support the leaders offering advice where needed.

Teams of ‘climbers’ also head out. These are women who can confidently trad climb, but are somewhere between learners and leaders, but want to meet new partners and be part of the fun!

"Now in its fourth year, Women's Trad Festival is fast becoming a landmark and highly sought-after date in the climbing diary. Last year's 3-minute sell-out was - unbelievably - topped this year by tickets being snapped up immediately. In the time it took to refresh the page, the tickets for Women's Trad Festival 2019 were already sold out!"

The Women's Trad Festival Team: Ellie Fuller, Gilly McAthur, Charlie Low & Hetty Key.

Our values

Mental wellbeing

Being active outdoors has a positive effect on mental wellbeing. We are committed to using Women's Trad Festival to increase awareness.

Sustainability

Trying to get as close to zero waste as possible, we want to motivate everyone at our festival to make changes in their everyday life too.

Accessibility

We know trad climbing is not the most accessible of sports; we are aiming towards giving everyone the chance to learn to trad climb.
