Tell us about yourself - who are you and what do you love doing?
I’m Derry and I love to be busy, be that spending time outside climbing/running/biking/canoeing,
or using my hands doing DIY/looking after my plants. Being on the go is when I’m happiest! I now
have the joy (and trials!!) of doing all this with my daughter, Fern.
Give us three words that you identify with most?
Mother, Climber, Intentional
What brings you the most joy outdoors?
The connection to nature, being immersed in a beautiful landscape fills my soul.
What has been your biggest challenge to date?
Motherhood, trying to navigate the ever changing demands of a tiny human whilst making sure I
get to do the things I want to do which benefit my own mental health and wellbeing.
If you could share a core value or abiding principle with others, what would it be?
Honesty and integrity mean so much to me. I am a very trusting person (you have to be when you
let them hold your rope!), but it makes it so much harder when people let you down.
Tell us one small change we can make as individuals to help our community?
Inclusivity and diversity by means of representation is the next big step the climbing community
needs to make to improve the community.
