Tell us about yourself - who are you and what do you love doing?
I’m Hannah, I’m 27 years old and a climber. For the last 6 years climbing and competing has been my primary love and focus. For the last 4 years I have been lucky enough to compete internationally as part of the British Paraclimbing team and am currently World Champion in the RP2 category.
Give us three words that you identify with most?
Determined, resilient, passionate.
What brings you the most joy outdoors?
For a long time, my enjoyment of the greater outdoors was restricted by limited wheelchair access, so now every moment spent up on my crutches having adventures and seeing previously inaccessible places is incredible.
What has been your biggest challenge to date?
Managing my illness and disability in a way that doesn’t restrict my climbing and the way I want to live my life – I don’t want to be seen as a paraclimber, just a climber!
If you could share a core value or abiding principle with others, what would it be?
Never give up and never let go! (…and listen to Beyonce for psyche!)
Tell us one small change we can make as individuals to help our community?
Try not to stare at someone if they look different – it is hard because as humans we are curious of things we don’t often see but when you live with that difference 24/7 the looks and comments begin to ware you down.
